This place is EXCELLENT! Broth it down! The food was such a beautiful composition of seasonal dishes from an extremely talented chef team. We truly enjoyed all of the broths, the variety of tapa dishes and the exceptional service at this place. In addition, you get a chance to brew your own broth using bonito flakes. We certainly will be back next time we are in the area!
Such an amazing experience! Everything was really perfect! Service is impeccable, the atmosphere is beautiful and cozy. The menu is very tasty, there is nothing bad about it. They have a menu option for vegetarians and they served my husband very well, he loved the veggie menu. I know that when I'm in Kyoto I will come back.
A wonderful lunch in a beautiful place. We had the tasting menu at Muku, and the experience was amazing. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the design of the space was beautiful. The main dish consisted of nine small plates, each bursting with flavor. It was a wonderful way to try a variety of different flavors. I highly recommend it. Side note: my girlfriend can’t eat shellfish and crabs. They adapted the soup and plate so she can still enjoy the menu.
Excellent "fancy" feeling restaurant. We had breakfast there (as brunch) and it was great, with a fantastic array of great little dishes. Big recommendation! Nb: don't eat breakfast before going, or plan to eat lunch, because you will probably be stuffed! After our breakfast here, we only had a cream puff until dinner, and we were happy!
Wonderful traditional japanese breakfast with variations on Dashi broths. Carefully sourced ingredients, skillfully prepared and presented on eye pleasing dishes. The young team takes breakfast on a different level. Very satisfying and worth every yen.
One of the best restaurants in my travel to Japan. Staff quite friendly and kind. Food amazing if you have the opportunity try the set menu, a little rate of everything. Prices are good so it’s worth it
Thanks to Google Maps, we found this restaurant after we visited Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. It’s tucked away from the bustling main street across the bridge. We were lucky to have gotten a table, the very last one, without a reservation. It’s a set meal - no other choices. There were so many small dishes, I lost count. But every one of them was simply amazing. I can’t name a favorite. They also took great care in their food presentation. Food quality was outstanding. It was more than just a meal. It’s an experience. The staff were very welcoming and friendly as well. The interior was modern minimalistic. It was very comfortable. The restaurant seems to be a part of a boutique hotel. There were quite a few foreigners in there. So communicating in English wasn’t a problem. I would love to come back to Arashiyama just for the meal next time
Wow! We were staying in the hotel and we were able to have breakfast at MUKU. Since my partner has some allergies the kitchen was able to serve an adjusted menu for him (we informed the staff beforehand). The both of us were able to fully enjoy the experience and all of the food served was insanely delicious. I believe that this was one of the most memorable food experiences we had in Japan. The staff were also very nice and accommodating!
